The Rainbow of Hope

Rainbow of hope in trafalgar square

We listened to a song...   Somewhere over the rainbow…   Skies are blue     Then we started to make the Rainbow of Hope...

(We didn't really listen to a song we just wanted to do something)

When the World is full of the harsh reality of discrimination and stigma about being HIV positive or living with AIDS, where is HOPE? Putting yourself into the shoes of another, as the MADkids often say, is the only way to truly understand your own and others lives. In truth some of us were in our own shoes and, if not, certainly in the shoes of a person close by in our backyard or school room.

So what to DO?  Our art got people talking; it sent messages of support, it gave accurate information and some HOPE.

The RAINBOW of HOPE - Eighteen panels telling the story of living with HIV

from point of diagnosis through the pain to the middle when we turn and ask WHY?

to seeking love life and understanding through self and others.

The figures are faceless but our artists are real

Each panel shows a faceless person or persons at part of their journey.

The spirit of the artist in white helps the character move on step by step - it is often hidden but help is normally around search for it

it is there supporting, lifting, holding, reaching out and linking.

In the Last Panel our faces return real BOLD BRIGHT AND ALIVE

Read on and ENJOY...
